The Ryan Scoble ’23 Legacy: Mercyhurst hosts 2nd annual LAX-for-Life event to support organ donation

Men's LAX player

For the second year in a row, Mercyhurst University hosts the LAX-for-Life fundraiser, bringing together lacrosse teams from around the region to raise awareness about organ donation through competitive games and community engagement. The games begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, and will be played throughout the day on Mercyhurst’s three fields.

Founded by former Mercyhurst lacrosse player and heart transplant recipient Ryan Scoble ’23, LAX-for-Life has quickly become a platform for spreading awareness about the importance of organ donation. Scoble's journey from being diagnosed with heart failure to receiving a life-saving heart transplant, and eventually returning to the field, is an inspiring testament to the power of organ donation. Through his personal experience, Scoble seeks to encourage others to consider giving the gift of life.

This year's event promises to be even bigger than last year’s, featuring nine NCAA men's lacrosse programs and five NCAA women's teams. In addition to helping organize the games, Scoble will be speaking to the crowd during a special presentation at Saxon Stadium at 1:10 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online for $5 or at the door for $10. All proceeds go to the Center for Organ Recovery & Education. Visit the LAX-for-Life website to read Ryan’s story and purchase tickets.

"We are excited to partner with Mercyhurst again for the second LAX-for-Life event! Together, we aim to educate our community and inspire individuals on the life-changing impacts of organ donation," said Scoble. "Every game played represents hope for those in need of a second chance, and we are grateful for the continued support from the Mercyhurst community."
