Fashion students invite public to ‘A Night Out at 5th & State’
Two kindred shops on lower State Street in Erie—Pointe Foure and Primo Tailoring—will showcase the creativity of Mercyhurst University students in Erin Magorien's Visual Merchandising class on Thursday, Oct. 27.
The public is invited to attend “A Night Out at 5th & State” from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at 421 and 423 State Street, where they can view storefronts and related spatial displays designed by the students and participate in raffles and receive 15% off coupons.
Student spokesperson Kirsten Whitaker says both stores maintain a supportive relationship with Mercyhurst’s Department of Fashion Merchandising, including opportunities for firsthand learning experiences and internships. They also recently hired two alumni: Barbie Harkins ’22 at Primo, and Daisy Clark ’22 at Point Foure.
“The goal of this event is to give students real-life experience in the fashion industry,” Whitaker said. “Each student has something they are in charge of doing, like project management, marketing and social media, donations, and setup and tear-down. On top of giving student this experience, it also helps promote these small businesses.”
