PN Program Director, Instructor of Nursing
Ms. Hodgins has been with Mercyhurst University since August of 2010. Her nursing background began in a rehabilitation nursing setting, and she transitioned to the education role after she realized she was intentionally seeking opportunities to work with students as a bedside nurse. She began her teaching career in the Practical Nursing program and moved in 2016 to the ASN program. She continues to work with both programs in some capacity. She learned that while she loved nursing, teaching was her big passion, and she truly loved what she did.
Karyn spends much of her time outside of work with her beloved husband and family. Her greatest source of pride is her granddaughter Gabby, who became a black belt in Taekwondo by the age of 11. She has three children, Tom who is 31, Arynn, who is 27, and Dylan who is 24. Arynn is also a Mercyhurst Nursing graduate. Karyn spends most of her time outside of work camping with her husband. She loves to cook on a grand scale. Her quiet times are spent sitting on her deck with a good book and a cup of coffee.
