Kara Richardson
Assistant Professor
Ms. Richardson is the newest addition to the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. She has always had a passion for learning and education. Although new to the full-time position, she has been teaching several labs and lectures for the department for three years and has precepted many Physician Assistant students. She is looking forward to expanding her knowledge and translating it to the students, as well as sharing her experiences over the past eight years of clinical work in general surgery, geriatrics and the Army National Guard Reserves.

- Ms. Richardson has broad interests in medicine.
- She currently enjoys teaching physical exam techniques, procedures, renal diseases, bioethics, palliative care and holistic medicine.
- She has personal interests in nutrition, wellness, emergency medicine, physical medicine and functional medicine and is looking to expand her class curriculum in these topics.

- Ms. Richardson is an active member of the Erie community. She enjoys volunteer coaching for the North East Girls high school and middle school soccer teams. She volunteers at many athletic events and has participated in several career days at local public schools.
- In regard to her profession, she is an active member of the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants and the American Association of Physician Assistants and she has precepted many PA students.
- She is also a member of the Army National Guard Reserves as a Physician Assistant.
- She hopes to extend her outreach during her time at Mercyhurst by participating in medical missions.
