Cole Lowe, M.A. is an Instructor of Education at Mercyhurst University and Program Director for Compass Academy. Professor Lowe holds various degrees and certifications including Spanish Education, Special Education, Teaching English Language Learners, Second Language Pedagogy, and Theatre Education.
Before transitioning full-time to Mercyhurst, Professor Lowe was a tenured faculty member of the Fairview School District in Erie County. He held positions as the Spanish teacher, theatre director, speech and debate coach, yearbook advisor, GSA ally advisor, and the Student Activism advisor. Professor Lowe led student groups to Costa Rica and traveled with students for state and national competitions throughout Pennsylvania and the country. He was the commencement speaker for each graduating class that he taught.
Lowe was named a Fulbright Scholar in 2019, studying and teaching for a year at the Universidad Nacional de Catamarca in Catamarca, Argentina. He conducted and presented research in Argentina and Uruguay. Lowe’s teaching passions include fostering strong, supportive relationships between students and teachers, multicultural education, inclusive educational theatre, and the liberal arts philosophy.
