Guidelines and Criteria for Nomination

Criteria

The mission statement of the college will be the primary source for nomination of candidates.

Award Categories

  1. Outstanding achievement in a chosen field
  2. Outstanding service to Mercyhurst University
  3. Outstanding service to his/her community
  4. Outstanding Young Alumnus (a graduate of no more than 15 years)
  5. Sister Carolyn Herrmann Award (rarely conferred, extraordinary/exceptional achievement)

Selection Process

  1. Letter and informational sheet mailed to nominees from the Office of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving (Office of Annual Engagement)
  2. Initial screening by the Director of Alumni Services (Director of Annual Engagement & Operations)
  3. Review by the Alumni Board Selection Committee (members appointed by the Board President)
  4. Vote by all board members at the spring meeting
  5. Recipients are generally presented at Reunion/Homecoming Weekend
