Community Engagement - Volunteer
Mercy Month
Each year, the entire month of March is devoted to highlighting Mercyhurst's Mercy and Catholic traditions and spirit of the Sisters of Mercy. This year, our programming is centered around the value of "Compassionately Hospitable."
Workplace Volunteering
Coordinate a volunteer project through your place of work and get other MU alums involved across the country to start their own service projects as well. The Community Engagement department is willing to offer free consultation and assistance in starting up your project. Fill out the form below if you are interested in discussing options for volunteer opportunities.
Sponsor Alternative Breaks and Service Trips
Many of our students partake in a variety of service projects and trips throughout the year, but are responsible to pay for their own food, shelter and travel costs. Possible examples include:
- $150 pays for one student to volunteer in a week-long Habitat for Humanity build
- $25 pays for one day of a student's Habitat for Humanity trip over spring break
- $250 pays for a day of an international trip to Mexico or Guyana
If you are interested in sponsoring a student for one of these trips, please fill out the form below.
Participate in regional, national, or international service trips with Mercyhurst University
The University often seeks chaperones, meal hosts or guest appearances for service trips. If you often reminisce about the time you spent at Mercyhurst and your service experiences as a student, we welcome you back to experience them again!
How can the Department of Community Engagement assist you?
Is your employer or non-profit connection in need of volunteers? We are always looking for ways to incorporate community-engaged aspects into our student's educational experience. Please make sure to indicate the name of your non-profit, location, description of volunteer work, frequency of opportunities available along with your contact information in the below form.
