Kathy Weidenboerner is an Assistant Professor in the Interior Architecture & Design program and an NCIDQ certified designer (National Council of Interior Design Qualification). She joined the faculty in 1986 and has served as the program director from 1997 to the present. Her areas of interest include environmental, healthcare, and lighting design. Her research efforts with her students have focused on breaking paradigms in the design of the built environments to enhance health, safety, and welfare. To that end, she and her students have produced hundreds of innovative design project prototypes many of which have become built realities. Her personal research efforts have focused primarily on the relationships of buildings to the natural environment and to human behavior. She has presented at the local, state, and international levels.
