Dangerous cold prompts university closing
Safety concerns for students and employees over the impending sub-zero temperatures has prompted Mercyhurst University to close its campuses Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 30-31. All classes and activities are cancelled after 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, with the exception of tonight’s concert by Postmodern Jukebox in the Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center. During the closure:
Dining halls will maintain normal hours.
Essential personnel including Police & Safety, Maintenance and Residence Life will be on campus and available.
Payroll and the release of W-2 forms will proceed according to schedule.
Athletic events scheduled on the Mercyhurst campus are postponed. Please check hurstathletics.com for updates about away events.
The university asks students to refrain from turning down the heat, and to be sure that all windows are closed tightly and latched.
