ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE

Studying Business Administration prepares you with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the complex and ever-changing business world as a dynamic and decisive leader. At Mercyhurst North East, you’ll learn the fundamentals of economics, accounting, management and marketing that can set you apart in today’s workforce. After you learn the basics during your first year, choose a concentration that allows you to focus on the specialization that will hone your skills in your area of interest: Accounting, Management, Social Media Marketing, or Sport Management. No matter which one you choose, you’ll graduate prepared with marketable skills to help you achieve an entry-level job in the business sector or continue on for a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university. 

Accounting Concentration

At Mercyhurst North East, our mission is to help students on their path to success and to their desired career. Whether your goal is to become a CPA for a large firm or simply help people complete their taxes each spring, an Accounting concentration may be the perfect choice for you. The Accounting concentration offers a sequence of courses that prepares students for careers in the challenging field of accounting, while still educating on the basics of economics, management and marketing. The business division also recognizes the importance of basic communication and mathematics, and coursework in the program focuses on the development of these skills.

  • Our faculty and staff will help you locate an internship related to your desired field to supplement your education with real-world experience in a professional setting

Management Concentration

While some students dream of owning their own company, others are looking for the best way to kick-start their career in an ever-changing world. Whatever your goals may be, MNE's Management concentration will help you achieve them by giving you the necessary skills and experiences. This concentration within the Business Administration program provides students with general training in the basic principles and techniques that are needed to secure an entry-level position in the business sector. To prepare students for whatever they may encounter in their job market, our faculty introduce the fundamentals of economics, accounting, management, and marketing, and even some upper-level coursework in human resources and computer applications.

Social Media Marketing Concentration

With the explosion of digital technologies and handheld devices, people are more connected than ever before, and social media skills are highly prized by employers. The Social Media Marketing concentration provides students with general training in the basic principles and techniques that are needed to secure an entry-level position in the business sector. Social media technologies are a rapidly growing business-marketing tool, and with the formation of online communities, it is only natural for business to utilize this new communication tool for marketing purposes.

  • Upon completion of this program, graduates will be prepared for entry-level positions in administration, marketing, and sales
  • Social media marketing is more than just knowing how to use Facebook and Twitter, which is why we teach our students the ins and outs of everything there is to know about marketing, public relations, and social media

  • Students study all forms of media including video streaming, graphic design and new technologies such as smart phones apps, and advertisements on video sharing websites

  • This program also introduces students to the fundamentals of economics, accounting, management and marketing

Sport Management Concentration

If you've always been fascinated with the world of sports, whether it's the game day production of a professional team or the smooth management of local pick-up leagues, a degree in Sport Management from Mercyhurst North East may be the path for you. To fully prepare students for entry-level positions in the sports industry, the Sport Management concentration offers a sequence of courses including accounting, economics, management, marketing, strength and conditioning, first aid, officiating, and topics in professional, collegiate, and recreational athletics.

  • Our unique Coaching Techniques course covers the fundamentals of coaching (with a focus on youth and interscholastic sports) to prepare you for a coaching position after graduation

  • Students get real-world coaching experience in 10 to 15 hours of work alongside actual coaches in the MNE athletics program and have the opportunity to earn 11 certificates from the NFHSA and the PIAA

  • Throughout the coursework, students will have the opportunity to earn ten certifications from the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) as well as an officiating certification from the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) if they pass a sport specific exam

  • Our graduates find employment in personal training, intercollegiate athletics, coaching, community-based sport programs, sport marketing and promotion, and corporate fitness programs
