National Collage Society’s 35th Annual Juried Exhibit
Cummings Gallery at Mercyhurst University proudly hosts the 35th Annual Juried Exhibit of the National Collage Society from Nov. 4 through Dec. 7, with an artists’ reception on Thursday, Nov. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. Collage as an art form was only identified during the 20th century. The National Collage Society Inc. is an art foundation formed to promote the advancement of collage as a major art medium, and includes members throughout the U.S. as well as in several other countries. For this exhibit, a three-person jury selected 55 works that best illustrate this broad and evolving art form. Awards judge Daniel Burke, professor of art at Mercyhurst, will announce nearly a dozen awards of cash and art materials during the Nov. 7 reception.
Cummings Gallery is open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 3 p.m.; closed Sundays. The gallery will also be closed Nov. 27-Dec. 1 during Mercyhurst’s Thanksgiving break.
