MIAC Live: Pink Martini
Thursday October 04, 2018 - 7:30 pm
Mary D'Angelo Performing Arts Center
Thomas Lauderdale found the music at political fundraisers in his hometown of Portland, Oregon, underwhelming. Drawing inspiration from music from all over the world – crossing genres of classical, jazz and old-fashioned pop – and hoping to appeal to conservatives and liberals alike, he founded the “little orchestra” Pink Martini in 1994 to provide more beautiful and inclusive musical soundtracks for political fundraisers for causes such as civil rights, affordable housing, the environment, libraries, public broadcasting, education, and parks. Now featuring a dozen musicians, Pink Martini continues to perform its multilingual repertoire on concert stages and with symphony orchestras around the world. Pink Martini returns to the Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center at Mercyhurst University on Thursday, Oct. 4, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults, $25 for seniors, and $20 for students/youth.
