Diversity, in all its forms, abounds in the United States. The hospital is often a site where we are called upon to understand peoples of all religions, cultures and worldviews. Focusing on traditions within Hinduism, Dr. Swasti Bhattacharyya, professor of philosophy and religion at Buena Vista University, highlights the importance of knowing ourselves, listening to others, and working for common understanding. Bhattacharyya will speak Friday, April 6, at 7 p.m. in the Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center. The lecture is presented by Mercyhurst University’s Evelyn Lincoln Institute for Ethics and Society and is free and open to the public. Tickets are required and will be available at the Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center box office beginning Monday, March 26. The box office is open weekdays, noon to 5 p.m. For information, call 814-824-3000.
