Civil rights icon and National Women's Hall of Fame inductee Carlotta Walls LaNier will visit Mercyhurst University on April 3 to share her personal story of perseverance and strength. LaNier was one of the Little Rock Nine, the black students who enrolled at formerly all-white Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, in September 1957, and currently serves as president of the Little Rock Nine Foundation. Her talk, which begins at 7 p.m. in the Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center, will bring to life a moment in history that changed the world while inspiring hope for the future. Her appearance is part of the Charlene M. Tanner Speaker Series and is free and open to the public; tickets are available from the Performing Arts Center box office.
