STUDENT EMERGENCY FUND

Mercyhurst created this emergency fund to help support the substantial expenses associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the pandemic began, Mercyhurst has provided a great deal of support to our students – travel assistance, working with students on past due tuition and fee payments, replenishing our depleted book fund for students who cannot afford textbooks, and the housing of roughly 20 students who were unable to travel home due to unique circumstances. As the fund continues to grow the needs continue to evolve, and we are providing support on a day-by-day basis.
 
Additional Tax Relief for Donors: Per the CARES Act, if you take the standard deduction on your 2020 tax return (the one that you'll file in 2021), you can claim up to $300 in charitable deductions in addition to the standard deduction.
