FIGHTING FOR FOLGS
The Mercyhurst University community is coming together in support of Mike Folga, longtime hockey equipment manager and athletic trainer who is staging a battle against cancer. Mike - affectionately known as Folgs - has been a critical part of Mercyhurst hockey for nearly two decades. Prior to Mercyhurst, Folgs held roles in the National Hockey League (NHL), Team USA, and other professional hockey affiliates.
Mercyhurst will be hosting a day of events on January 26, 2019, aimed at raising support for Folgs and his family, as well as the American Cancer Society, the official charity of the NHL and its Hockey Fights Cancer campaign. The women's hockey program will host Lindenwood at 2 p.m., followed by the men's team hosting AIC at 7:05 p.m. Additional details about the game will be announced and posted to this page as the event draws near. We will have a silent auction that day to help raise funds - anyone interested in donating items for the auction should contact Ryan Palm at firstname.lastname@example.org or 814-824-3320.
We welcome all friends of the Mercyhurst program to download a special Fighting for Folgs sign, write in who they are fighting for, and take a photo and send to email@example.com so we can compile and share the powerful reach of the Mercyhurst hockey family.
Those unable to attend but wanting to make a donation in support of this effort can do so using the form below.
UPDATE: The auction to bid on the game worn men's hocky jerseys can be found at: https://www.biddingowl.com/mercyhurst - the auctions end Feb. 9, 2019 at 8 p.m. EST.
